I am so shocked at this horrible tragedy. This young man must have been so tortured to go on such a senseless shooting spree. The families and friends of the victims will never be the same...it's just horrible. My prayers are with the friends and families of the victims, as well as with the parents of the shooter.

Fine fine photography by Kevin! Very fitting for such a somber day. Thanks for sharing these with the world and for your fantastic coverage over the past two days.
This is such a sad story. I think schools in the U.S. need to find another way to monitor these types of situations.. this seems to be happening at too many schools.. 1 room amish house, high school in colorado, now a college?
My prayers go out to everyone involved in this, I feel your pain, and know that the world is here for you.
I am also deeply sadenned by this, and my thoughts go out too everyone. but isnt this what iraq goes through every day of their lives while our boys are fighting over there.
My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends whom lost loved ones yesterday. My heart aces, and yet I never knew the ones you love so dear. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at Virginia Tech.
The people of Blacksburg are showing the world how strong and dedicated they are. You are all in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts at this hugely trying time. We hope one day your hearts and souls will heal.
Everyone in the UK is thinking of you all, at this awful and sad time.
My heart goes out to you all.

We are shaken everything and pronounce to the affected families our condolences! THERE MAY NEVER BE SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN FUTURE ANY MORE!!!!
All our sympathy, respect and consolation!

Photographs are a wonderful way to share with the world what you were both a part of yesterday. It helps us moms see things through your eyes. This mom needs to hug her son after he grieves with his Hokie family. The strength, love and comaraderie of the Hokie family seen over and over in the news brings tears to my eyes. My heartfelt sympathy to the moms who will never hug their Hokies again.
Ici, en France, nous pensons également à tous ces étudiants victime d'une injustice et de la bêtise humaine. Nous pensons tous très fort au peuple américain, aux amis, et aux familles des victimes. Que Dieu les bénisses.
I don't really know how to express my feelings about what happened to you guys.Let such a tragedy never ever take place again, ever.Let the souls of those who r dead rest in peace and let the living ones never forget them
The people of South Africa are deeply saddened by this. America you are in our thoughts and prayers. Be strong. We are definitly living in the end times.

The North Country communty of New York state would like to send our prayers and support to all the students at Va Tech. Youre all heroes to us and we wish you comfort and Gods love through this terrible time.
May God continue to keep his arms around you Hokies. You are all joined by a single thread, and when it breaks you all are affected. Your strength and love for each other is shown to the world at this time of tragedy. I am deeply saddened by this horrific act. May the healing process be gentle to all who lost a loved one. My heart goes out to all of you. This has been a horrible and shocking event. Something that is so unbelievable that I am pinching myself to wake up. I keep you all in my prayers and wish the best for all of you.
As a fellow Hokie I would like to send my deepest sympathy. It is such a tragic thing, but I know you all will pull through. Virginia Tech is an amazing community with a spirit that won't quit. My prayers and thoughts are with you all!
Andy, Your photos are so moving and powerful. They say so much more than all the news agencies ever could. Thank you for keeping your hometown informed and accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your friends.
first two pictures from Cupp show the color guard with guns (rifles) or i guess they may be 'fake' rifles.
How can people 'honor' guns one one hand and try to banish them with the other hand?
i have no way of describing the feelings that are going through me but i have endless sympathy and support for the students who were shot without any reason but some crazy korean kid and i seriously don`t have ANY sympathy for that psychopath. he shot kids that never did anything to him except for his gf and VT didn`t even do anything about the shootings except send out e-mails? i mean seriously when ur driving u dont check ur emails... u drive with a cell phone (hinthint). his behavior and writings were a BIG clue to his depression and actions. he even wrote a note that he was going to shoot people at VT.
I am in shock as is my wife and all the family, both in Canada and the States. our hearts go out to the victims in this tragedy, but let us not forget other school shootings in both your country and ours, Lecole polytechnique in Montreal, Que, Dawson College, Que and Columbine, Colorado, all of which had simliar themes.
young men with social and mental issues who fell through the cracks to become front page news.
my thoughts and prayers are with all of the families that had to go through this terrible event it saddens me to know that we are not safe anywhere we go when our own are doing things to hurt us while our troops are fighting in iraq...
To all you beautiful people that have suffered directly or indirectly, i hope that peace, harmony and happiness returns to your aching souls soon. Fortunately this evil has not reached our Australian waters YET..may it stay that way. Carolyn Sydney, Australia

What has amazed me the most is the solidarity and strength of the students and staff at VT. We would have expected people to want to leave campus after such a horrific experience, yet you've stuck by one another and have nothing but good things to say about your school. Know that everyone's thoughts are with you in this trying time. Peace and love from Keene, NH.
VT you guys are in my thoughts and prayers. When hurricane katrina hit we had so many of you guys volunteer to help us (New Orleans). We are here, you are in our prayers. Keep your wonderful spirit alive. God Bless your beautiful Campus. Love Lynn....New Orleans
I am so sorry. I grieve with you.

i have been to your beautiful school and loved the peace and tranquility. my heart aches for you all at this terrible time. may the peace and tranquility return again very soon.you are all in our prayers here in California. god bless virginia tech!
I livein Tampa, Florida (VT BS '96) and I still can not believe that something so horrible could happen at Tech. However, it is going to take a hell of a lot more than that to bring Hokie Nation down. Tech has always had and will have a "refuse to lose" attitude and a spirit that can not be brought down by some freak.
I went to VA Tech some 15 years ago now. I cannot imagine being on campus when such a thing occured. Tech is and will always remain to me a beloved santuary where I always felt and was safe.
I was horrified when I first saw the news coverage, and as I continued to watch day after day, I became quite depressed. Such a tragedy has no words to describe it, for it is bigger that most of us can bear.
I am very proud of the current student body and townspeople of Blacksburg and surrounding cities. They rallied together and showed great courage and love in the face of this horrific event. God please stand by the families and friends of the men and women who lost their lives on such a grey day in Hokie history.
Deirdre Paulson, Los Angeles, CA
Three of my children graduated from VA Tech and I was overwhelmed with sadness when this tradegy occurred.
My heart and prayers go out to the families who have lost such beautiful and promising young adults and also to the brilliant faculty that have lost their lives in such a senseless way.
The University will survive because of their extreme spirit and togetherness and may God bless them all.
Marilyn Jennings, Chesapeake, Va.
Dear Webmaster:
First of all, I'm so saddened by the events of Monday and you all affected have my deepest condolences. I am a disc jockey and recording studio owner/producer in the Phoenix Arizona area and I have compiled a music iMix on iTUNES for the purpose of helping during the grieving process. Each and every song has been carefully reviewed and selected for its lyrical content, compassion and encouragement with regards to loss of a friend or loved one. The 31-song collection is low-key and thoughtful and expresses the feelings that are so prevalent when someone experiences such a horrible event and subsequent loss. If anything, I just thought it would be another tool for students, faculty, immediate family and well-wishers to use while coping and frankly I didn't know how best to bring VT students to find it on iTUNES. So, I'm sending a link to you. It's kind of a candlelight vigil play list, if you will. If you feel like it would be appropriate, please, make the link address available at your discretion to the students and global mourners during this dark time. I would also appreciate any feedback with regards to the collection. This link will automatically open up the corresponding iMix window in iTUNES upon entering it.
I wish I could just send copies of this collection so that students and mourners could just grab one, but finances and copyright laws would forbid it. It is available for purchase at the iTunes music store through this link. I receive NO financial compensation from ITUNES for any related sales. I hope deeply that it might bring some comfort to anyone during this time of mourning and reflection. We as responsible Americans have to cross state boundaries and all do our part for our fellow citizens in times of need and this is a way I can help. If you should choose to post it on the VT website feel free to use my email address for responses. Please send me back a link so that I can check it out if you should choose to post it on the remembrance website. Thanks for your time…
Sincerely,
John Coeling

My heart goes out to families, friends, classmates and colleagues. May you find the calm courage and collective strength to carry on, and may these terrible, tragic events never, never be repeated.
A heartfelt "abrazo" from Spain.
i am so hurt to see 32 ppl die for nothing. it is a shame that that discusting man had to kill those many ppl just to get one point across...i wish he was alive rite now so that he can see what he has done.but i guess it teaches us that we need more security in the schools...i mean we send our children away thinking that they are safe and then something like this happens?? we pay all of that money year and all we get in return is bloody floors??? it's a damn shame!!
I just had to say to all of you how deep the pain is felt in my heart and in all civilized people of the world. My prayers are with those lost souls and to those close to them who will always have a huge piece of their hearts missing for the rest of their days. God be with you all.
My heart sank on Monday. For the waste of life, youth, talent and goodness. For the families, who should never hear such news. For all of you. May God bless all of you so that the indelible stain of that day won't darken them all.
I would like to send my deepest sympathy to those whose family members have died. Also my prayers and best wishes for those who need strength and healing (mentally and physically). But most of all for forgiveness for sometimes without forgiveness we can not heal.
WHO IS TO BLAME
We can not blame the police and VT officials for they did all they could do at the time with the information that they had.
We can not blame society for we are all human and are not perfert in the way that we treat people or do things.
We can not blame Cho's parents for no parent ever would expect that they could have a child who would do such a thing.
We can not blame God for he is love and gave his only begotten son.
We can not blame the people who sold the guns for they are just doing their job and it was done within the letter of the law.
We can only blame Cho himself for making a choice to do something on that day that would change lives forever!
We will never forget and can only grasp what is left, stand strong and begin to heal. LETS GO HOKIES
Unspeakable tragedy befalls the hokie community but the strength and resilience they have displayed to overcome and move on has been inspiring. Virginia Tech I draw inspiration from you. All the way from India, Anton
I just want to say when i hear or see the letters i feel so much hurt for you tears falls of me. This is a tragedy we will never forget
prayers and time will heal be strong
you are the brave ones who go to school to get a good education to make the difference in this world for others
I never went to Va Tech, I live my dream of being a Hokie through my brother Neal. I've had a hard time coping with this tragedy and I'm on the other side of the state in Va Beach. My prayers are with everyone who is having a hard time coping with this time. Go Hokies!! I love you bro!!
I NEVER ATTENDED VIRGINIA TECH - BUT I FEEL ALL OF YOU ON EVERY LEVEL, JUST THE SAME. MAY THE ONES YOU LOST REST IN PEACE. I AM NOW CARRYING A MEMORIAL ON OUR WEBSITE. PLEASE COME BY. YOU ARE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER.
As the mother of a college student, my heart breaks for parents who lost a child, spouses who lost a mate, siblings who lost brothers and sisters, children who lost a parent and faculty and students at Virginia Tech. I would like to share excerpts from a beautiful poem by A.L. Frink in memory of the precious and innocent lives taken in this tragedy.
"The Rose Still Grows Beyond The Wall"
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light, Watered and fed by morning dew,
Shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall,
Through which shone a beam of light...
It followed the light through the crevice's length,
And unfolded itself on the other side.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve,
And make our courage faint or fail?
Nay, Let us faith and hope receive:
THE ROSE STILL GROWS BEYOND THE WALL. Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever more.
In Memory and Honor of dear Dr. Librescu:
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13)
I know this has been a hard week for all of you, and I wanted to express my condolences for all of those who were injuried and for all of you who have lost a friend or a family member, I am deeply saddened by your loss, This could be anywhere, at any time, and so I feel like we are all vulnerable in someway, I can only hope that you will all begin to feel safe once again, and be able to move on with your lives, keep in mind that the whole world is behind all of you, including myself, and that you will all be able to get better the thoughts of what happened will never go away, but I can promise you it will eventually get better for all of you!! Stay Strong together, hug one another, grieve and remember all of the good times you've had with those you have lost!! YOU GO HOKIES! Take Care of all of you!
my thoughts and prayers are with you, virginia tech. you have shown such love and grace during this tragic time. you have shown us all how to be brave and strong in the face of tragedy and most of all, you have kept your faith. god bless you and may the families who lost a loved one find comfort in knowing that they are in a better place than we are, at the side of our lord. my prayers to you all.
My thoughts and prayers are with the
"Hokie Nation" all the way from Cerritos,CA. You have endured one of the most horrific events in modern U.S. history with grace and togetherness. So many promising, together people that were lost. I am a graduate student myself and I have learned that LOVE is the one thing that counts, while watching YOU. God bless you all.
Far away here in the Solomon Islands, we are saddened by this action. I would like you who lost your loved ones to know that our hearts are aching with you, we just hope that one day all these tragedies will be over. For those mothers and fathers who lost their sons and daughters, as a parent with grown children, I sympathise with you. While it angers me to think of the guy who caused so much pain for many, I also feel for his family who are now feeling ashamed of his actions and also for losing him. It seems he punishes his family more than others who he inflicted pain and death on.
Here in north central Iowa,I am sure I am among many others who are feeling SO much sadness for you all at VT and the surrounding area. As I watch Daily on my T.V. about your story, the tears fall for you ALL. I will pray for the victims and their families, for all who survived for their pain and sadness and what you have witnessed and gone through. And I will also pray for the family of the individual who was responsable for this evil tragedy. I want for you All at VT to know that I and SO MANY others, as you know, from all around the world, are thinking of you Everyday and crying with you to. We will continue to do so. And if there is Anything we or I can do for you, we are here. I can see that you all stick together there and that will help you as you move forward. I wish the Best for you All. And I will be thinking of you as you head back to your classes on 4/23/07. Gob Bless.
I feel sad and angry reading and watching the news about this tragedy. These innocents dont have the time to rescue and safe their life. It happened just like that.
But this is what God have planned. We should understand, everything that God have plannned for us, that is the best what we should have. We have to trust that, eventhough thats not easy for us.
And I just want you guys to know... Even here from Indonesia, far away from Virginia, I will always pray for the victims and for all whose being left.
I am a middle school students in China.I was very shock and sad to hear that.I don't know what to say and just best wish for you.
I was very angry when I read the news first.Because I thonght the killer is a devil. But now,I think I was wrong.I move when I see all of you condone him.
I hope no shooting,no violence,no war and no enmity in the world, but love.
I am sorry for the tragedy.
It is a tragedy for humans.
but we have to remember to forgive
wo have to go on to a new life without fear,it has happend ,wo cannot change it ,but when we ponder ,we may find that there are more important things to do,forget the sadness and we should have another day with sunshine.
God bless you and me !
God bless all you all. I pray for all of the people who lose their friends and family. To remember the past what we have done, look forward to build a better and peace future. I hope god can bring happiness back to VT soon.
blackest day darkens a dark chapter in Blacksburg's history. The Virginia tech leadership should plant a tree for each of the unfortunate victims of that unspeakably tragic moment. Their memory must live forever..

i have no way of describing the feelings that are going through me but i have endless sympathy and support for the students who were shot without any reason but some crazy korean kid and i seriously don`t have ANY sympathy for that psychopath. he shot kids that never did anything to him except for his gf and VT didn`t even do anything about the shootings except send out e-mails? i mean seriously when ur driving u dont check ur emails... u drive with a cell phone (hinthint). his behavior and writings were a BIG clue to his depression and actions. he even wrote a note that he was going to shoot people at VT.

This link will automatically open up the corresponding iMix window in iTUNES upon entering it.
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewIMix?id=252309427
Thanks for your time…
Sincerely,

Posted by C.J. BROOKS | April 22, 2007 4:33 PMAs the mother of a college student, my heart breaks for parents who lost a child, spouses who lost a mate, siblings who lost brothers and sisters, children who lost a parent and faculty and students at Virginia Tech.
