The Hokie Men’s basketball team’s NCAA tournament bubble burst on Sunday when the selection committee passed on inviting Tech to the Big Dance, but the Hokies will still be playing postseason basketball.
Virginia Tech earned the no.1 seed in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and will host Morgan State in the first round on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.
For that first round game, Hokie head coach Seth Greenberg and donors have purchased 3,000 tickets that will be given away on a first-come, first served basis.
“This is an opportunity to show my appreciation for the energy and enthusiasm that our fans bring to Cassell Coliseum each game,” Greenberg said. “I want to thank the student body for their support for their support and the difference they make.”
Tickets will be available for students with a valid Tech I.D. card at the basketball ticket office in the Coliseum between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 18. Seating for the game will be general admission throughout the venue.
