Pirates Stun Hokies 27-22 in Charlotte,
Glennon and Defense Shaky (Video Included)

The East Carolina Pirates pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, winning 27-22. The Pirates took the lead with 1:52 left to play after senior T.J. Lee blocked a Hokie punt and returned it for a score.

“They took it to us,” Tech coach Frank Beamer said after the game.  “It hurts to lose on a blocked kick at the end, that’s not very good.”

Commentary: Time To Shine - Glennon A Good Fit For 2008 Hokies

The decision has been made. Frank Beamer announced at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday that Sean Glennon would take the reigns as the Hokies' full-time signal caller while Tyrod Taylor would put the redshirt back on. To say the reaction from Hokie Nation was mixed would be an understatement. Not only can the Tech faithful not agree on how they feel about the news, they could not be further apart on the spectrum.

A new business in Blacksburg, Campus Cruisers, aims to bring affordable transportation to town. With gas prices being at record highs lately, the new business sells mopeds that can get more than triple the gas mileage offered by cars today. Ryan Call talks with the shop's owner about how students can get their hands on a new moped.

Team America: The True Olympic Champions

Mid to late August is a time for hibernation in terms of watching sports. I can watch the Padres vs. the Giants in mid season? Boring. NFL preseason? Yes, I can watch the highlight players for 15 minutes, and none of it counts, fantastic. In all honesty, watching sports in August is just unexciting. However, every four years, the summer Olympics comes and saves us from the dull summer events, and this year was no exception.

The Olympics in Beijing was one of the most exciting Olympics in recent memory. From the depth defying opening ceremony, to Michael Phelp's unbelievable dominance, to achieving our old glory is basketball, the Olympics were a sight to see. Despite the tape delays, moment after moment was exciting TV, and for Americans, it was an Olympic games to remember, because of the teams.

Thousands of cars have passed through campus the past few days to unload thousands of students and their stuff. Activity and traffic has finally slowed down, but with Virginia Tech getting more and more popular each year, on-campus housing has become overbooked.

Several of Virginia Tech's football players have been part of what the team calls the "fat club," and it was their goal this summer to get out of that club. Members of the club worked very hard to lose weight over the summer to follow one of the team's new mottos: "Lean is mean."

Planet Pundit: Domino Effect for WWIII?

Since the end of World War II, journalists and politicians have speculated on the event of a Third World War.

Some say the Cold War between the United States and Russia was in a way a kind of Third World War while a few years ago Bush referred to the "War on Terror" as such.

But for the most part, everyone agrees this event has not taken place. The Cold War is more accurately looked upon as a time of serious tensions and uncertainty with conflicts popping up at different times and for different reasons around the world.
