PBTV: Florida State Recap

After their first visit to Doak Campbell Stadium since 1990, the Hokies leave the capital city with two injured quarterbacks, and back-to-back losses in the ACC.

After the first play of the game, Florida State’s planned defensive strategy for Tyrod Taylor was able to shift its focus to Sean Glennon. Taylor sustained a high left ankle sprain on the first offensive play of the game. Glennon would replace Taylor and throw his first pass in a collegiate football game since the Hokie’s 20-17 win against the Tar Heels in September.

Glennon threw for 133 yards and helped put the Hokies up 10-0 late in the 1st quarter. After one quarter of play, the Hokies did not look too worse for wear without Taylor.

Tech’s defense was getting the job done and managed to hold the Florida State offense to only 18 yards and no touchdowns. Florida State would soon answer in the beginning of the 2nd quarter with a 39-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Antone Smith, his 11th rushing touchdown of the season. Later in the 2nd quarter, both teams would trade field goals to go into the locker-room with a 13-10 Virginia Tech lead.

The second half was when things started to fall apart for the Hokies. Florida State would score 17 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter and Sean Glennon would come out of the game with a left fibula injury, forcing Cory Holt to come in as Virginia Tech’s 3rd quarterback used in the game.

Holt would finish the game with 28 yards of offense and 1 touchdown pass to sophomore tight end, Andre Smith in the 4th quarter. At the end of the fourth quarter, Florida State sent in senior kicker, Graham Gano to kick a 46-yard field goal to put the Seminoles up 30-20.

It was too much for the Hokies to lose both Taylor and Glennon. The Hokies leave the game with their first pair of ACC back-to-back road losses since joining the conference in 2004.

The Hokies now have a much-needed bye week before kicking off against Maryland next Thursday night in Blacksburg. The Hokies hope to use their home field advantage to come out with an ACC win and boost their chances at the ACC Championship Game in Tampa.

This is by far the worst video I have ever seen in my entire life. It is so terribly organized and the guys voice is atrocious. I really hope much effort did not go into this, because I believe a 5 minute improvision would have been better.

Hey now, it's not that bad--don't be so harsh. It's obviously his first video on the site anyway and everyone working on here are just a bunch of rookies...it's a learning process. I thought some of the camera shots were pretty nice, there's always things to be pointed out that are positive and things that can be improved.
