By Neal TurnageOctober 12, 2009
The ACC honored VT running back Ryan Williams as its Rookie of the Week after his 182 all-purpose yards and a touchdown performance against Boston College. This is the fourth time this season he has earned the award. Williams currently ranks fifth among FBS running backs in yards gained with 734, just 12 behind leader Toby Gerhart of Stanford. In this short clip Hokie head coach Frank Beamer discusses what makes the back so effective and Williams comments on who he hopes his style of play resembles.

It is very refreshing to see such humility and selflessness from a running back. Williams always gives the credit to his offensive line and his blockers. He's incredible, no doubt, but like he said, you need good blocking up front to put up the kind of numbers he is putting up.
