The Fashion Merchandise and Design Society of Virginia Tech is holding another fashion and art exhibition.

It’s going to be “art mixed with fashion,” Joanna Maggi, one of the fashion show coordinators, said recently.

Maggi said there would be 20 to 25 participants this year, including "student and local artists and designers of all kinds.”

The exhibition is going to be at the XYZ Gallery located at 223 North Main St. and starts promptly at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18. Admission is $3 at the door or $2 with a valid Virginia Tech student identification.

XYZ is a student-run gallery that displays art from Tech students and local artists. Tech’s own Mary Elise Jennings is expected to show and sell her “Peace T’s” line.

Also Blacksburg artist Isaac Mitchell, from Danny’s Ancient Art Tattoo parlor, will exhibit sketchbook work and tattoo art. “I’ll have oils and acrylics, and maybe do some sharpie art,” said Mitchell.

He said he will be vending to anyone interested in purchasing his artwork. You can check out his work here: http://www.tattoosbyisaac.com.

In regards to her “Peace T’s,” Jennings said, “They’re super comfortable and custom made after order. They’re extremely wearable for college girls.” She also makes men’s shirts; however, her market is largely with college women.

Jennings work can be seen here: http://www.new.facebook.com/pages/PEACE-TS-by-MEJ/237688400547.

The exhibition will be set up in and around the white-washed and old brick walls of XYZ. The 20 or so artists will have their work set up on tables and ledges around the corridors of the Gallery. The evening will be filled with color, music and hors d’oeuvres.
