A New Taste in Christiansburg
by Michael Trelease

A new restaurant has soared into Christiansburg this past March, which has brought new flavors to Virginia Tech students and other local residents.  Red Robin, located at 105 Peppers Ferry Road, provides an exquisite menu of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and milkshakes.  I recently was given the opportunity to dine at Red Robin to evaluate the atmosphere, service, and food quality.

One of the greatest aspects of Red Robin is the atmosphere.  Upon entry, I found a large waiting area filled with arcade games and balloons.  I also noticed a large flat screen television embedded inside the floor.  Guests can wait for a table, and watch ESPN right at their feet.

The restaurant was full of amazing architecture, with murals of all kinds along the walls.  Its colorful, vibrant scenery made the dining experience much more enjoyable.  There were television monitors at every corner, so guests can watch the news or sports from their tables.  The kitchen sat right in the middle of the restaurant, in plain view of customers to watch the cooks at work.

Alongside Red Robin’s incredible atmosphere is their wait staff.  Their servers are dressed in professional and clean attire, with tucked-in collared shirts.  They were friendly and quick to take food orders.  Every waiter appeared very approachable and always had a smile on their face.

I had heard from a friend that Red Robin’s milkshakes are the best around.  So I decided to get a chocolate milkshake, and was surprised at the taste.  Their milkshakes were very thick and guests receive a little extra to savor the flavor.

The menu is not complicated to read, unlike some places.  I had no problem finding the “Burger” section of the menu.  I chose the Mushroom Swiss Burger, just because I’m a fan of sautéed mushrooms.  The best part about the meal is that guests get all the steak fries they can eat.

I can honestly say that consumers will definitely get what they pay for.  My order filled me up, and I didn’t even have to get another order of steak fries!  Red Robin’s burgers are made with special ingredients, with their very own hamburger seasoning.  The Red Robin seasoning, which rests on every table, makes the food tastes much better.

Red Robin even has a mascot that walks around to visit children and hand out balloons.  My overall experience dining at Red Robin was excellent.  For two people, you will end up spending $15-20, which is not bad for fabulous food.

I give this new restaurant two thumbs up.  So if you’re looking for a new dining experience, I highly suggest checking out Red Robin.
